Gettin' Merry Like Christmas.

Today was productive. I've been cleaning out and organizing closets and realizing that I don't have to "display" every single thing I have and like to look at. You know, at some point, you don't even really SEE your favorite things anymore, it just becomes part of the clutter. So in a box they go, up into the attic to be rediscovered again some other day.

I also realized how much storage space we have up in the ole attic and I figured out a trick to make opening the attic door easier...long boring story, but maybe it will mean a cleaner, more organized house when you come visit.
You will come visit, right?

We are watching A Dog Named Christmas and we are joking way too much. Luke keeps kissing me and bouncing around the room saying, "This is gonna be the best Christmas ever!!!!"

Jake has a haircut. He looks like Richard Heene, Science Detective.

Happy birthday to my sister. She's fifty. Just kidding--she's 39!

Hope

Monday Hope would have been 37. I think of her every day.

Papaw's Watch

I was hanging clothes in my closet when I overheard Chris showing Luke his grandfather's watch, telling him about how he worked on the railroad and how he used to be married to Nanny...how he was Mimi's daddy.... Luke asked where Papaw was and Chris told him in heaven, that he died.
Luke asked, "Why do people die? Will you die?"
Chris said that we would all die, that we will all meet again in heaven.
"So we'll live again?" My baby asked.
"Yes."
My little man, asking the big questions. I love my boys.

Awaiting The Turkey--Mishmash o' Thoughts

Ever get the feeling no matter what you do, you're screwed?
That's how it's been lately. I won't go into details, but life ain't been "no crystal stair" lately, to quoth Langston Hughes. HOWEVER, I do want to say that I know how very blessed I am. I have my husband and my boys and my parents and many other wonderful things and things will be fine in the long run....
**********
Luke went on his first school fieldtrip this past week. It was to the same farm we went to to get our pumpkins in October. I was happy for him--he was so excited to ride a bus.
Some chick, age about 5, called his name and hugged him a long time when I picked him up the other day. He swung his sweater over his shoulder and was like, "Okay, see ya." (All cool and stuff.) Is this happening already? Seriously?
*********
Jake has found a new love for Barney because his daycare shows it, apparently. He is still all about cars and balls. What man isn't, really? :)
********
Luke is still obsessed with Star Wars and Legos. Spiderman is ancient history, which is soooo strange to us...
********
Chris is still super skinny and I am not.
********
Still loving my job more and more each day, really bonding with some coworkers.
Love debate so much more this year. That's a post in itself some day soon.
What else....
I'm stagnant---will come up with more later.

There's a Cat in the House!

When the neighbor's cat (named Fruitloop---the one that beats Reggie's butt every so often) somehow got into our home...

I'm in a Billy Joel Phase

Good night my angel time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Where ever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Good night my angel now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark and deep
Inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me (Musical Bridge)Do do do do...
Goodnight my angel now it's time to dream
And dream how wondeful your life will be
Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabies go on and on
They never die that's how you and I will be

Life, Death, and Michael Jackson

Tonight, after giving Luke a bath, I was towelling him off when we had this weird conversation.

"Mom, you know you could choke, right?"
"Yep. You have to chew your food slowly."
"If you choke, you could die. Like Michael Jackson."
"That's right, but he didn't choke."
"He sang his voice out, huh. Where does Michael Jackson live?"
"Well, honey, he doesn't live anywhere anymore except in Heaven."
"Wow! With Jesus?"
"Yes."
"Where is his house with the pretty bushes and the fair in his backyard?"
"That's in California."
"I'm sad."
"Huh?"
"I'm sad Michael Jackson died because now I can't see him except on the 'puter. And I want to see his backyard fair."
"Well, one day you might can..."
"I know! We can use that little 'puter in Dad's car to get us there....it's a long way, so I'll bring lots of toys to play with..."
