Luke: (Touches my hair and nuzzles his face to mine) You're my MAMA!!!!
Me: Yes, I am! You are my baby boy!!!
Luke: Uh HUH! (nods)

Later...
Luke: You're a GOOD boy!!!!
Me: I am? You're a GOOD BOY too!!!
Luke: Uh huh! TWOOOOO good boys!

Me: Luke, are you gonna have a brother or sister?
Luke: Sistah.
Me: We'll see.
Luke: Brothah and sistah!

Yeah

I realized when I woke up this morning that I need to step away from the tabloid magazines and tv for a while. Why? I dreamed that I had a thing going with John Mayer. Let me set the scene: I was in college. John Mayer and I were holding hands and keeping everything on the down low. Jessica Simpson heard that we were seen together and got upset. So yes, John Mayer cheated on Jessica Simpson with me. In my dreams...only there. What's so funny is, I don't even think he's all that cute. He has a strange look about him. Anyway. The next part of the dream involved me being on some Trump game show, dressing up in designer fashions and driving go-carts in the jungle. Pregnancy hormones make me have the weirdest dreams...

Yesterday I took Chris to the doctor to get some work done on his back. I had to drive him back home because he was so doped up after the treatment. He had to sign something on the way out and they gave him an "unclicked" pen that he tried to write with before clicking it on. That made me giggle. The waiting room was soooo small. I guess that's where I picked up the cold I now have. Great. My body is aching, my nose is running, I'm sneezing, and Britney ain't feeling too good lately either.

Those pics of her with the umbrella. Lord have mercy.

I got really frustrated with my students today. I'm covering A Tale of Two Cities in honors class and they are really slacking and letting me down. Maybe five have been doing the reading they were assigned. The rest are at chapter 15 when they should be at 24. Ugh. I made the test extra hard for Monday to get back at them. I know. I'm mean. Three of the other classes are reading (or supposed to be reading) Animal Farm. Tests sucked today. However, a good many are doing okay with their notecards and crap for their research papers...My 2 Macbeth classes are doing fine.

Sigh. So I'm sick.

Some quotes from the week:

"Those shoes are what stink."--student pointing out another student's footwear (They did smell--like a POLECAT!)

"He's like Macbeth! Killing people left and right!"--a student, of Howard K. Stern (I was pleased, both at the literary comparison and because I thought this too. Ha.)

"Do I have to like, read this story I'm doing my research paper on?"--MORE THAN ONE STUDENT ASKED ME THIS.

Happy 59th birthday goes out to my Momma today!!! I called her up and said, "Happy sixtieth!!!!" this morning.

Live from the Manroom

Luke has several action figures he enjoys playing with. He likes Superman, Spiderman, and...
Goldmember,
Two of the Ghostbusters,
and...the members of Metallica. I bought them for Chris back when we were a childless couple. You know, for that ten months or so.

Right now Luke's placing all the members of the rock group in a circle with quite an audience watching them. Diego the Explorer is watching with his friend the dinosaur. Also present for the concert is a Pound Puppy, and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.

He's so our child.

Baby's first gift

Donna bought the new baby his/her first gift. New bibs and a onesie. Made it seem more real to me. I really appreciated it.

Dear, DEAR, WONDERFUL John...

So happy to report that we now have a toilet. AND the cutest pedestal sink. AND they both work and stuff! :) We aren't gonna do the BIG reveal until we do some detail work/little stuff which will take a few more weeks, but let me say, I'm pleased. I picked out the shower curtain, new rod, and hooks today at Linens and Things and that was fun. I can't wait to pick out some other stuff for it.

All this was much tougher than we expected it to be. We've come a long way, baby.

But it's worth it. :)

Big thanks to my in-laws who came this weekend, to Meg, and definitely to Casey, Chris's brother and fantastic plumber. We owe you big time.

Luke got to play with his cousin Dylan for the first time since Christmas and they had fun wrecking Luke's room. At one point we walked into the room and asked what was wrong with them--they had evidently had a disagreement over the sharing of a toy.
"Now hug your cousin, Dylan," Meg said.
"No, cousins push and hit you!" Dylan responded.
Oh my.

Doc Appt, Peanut Butter, Weird Head Dude, and a Movie

Today was my monthly appointment with Dr. G. Everything seems good. I've gained 10 pounds so far. I swear, half of that must be my boobs cuz they enter the room before I do. Ha. I'm almost halfway done. (The last half will be much more taxing, I'm afraid! AND HOT.)

Made the appointment for my ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby--Monday, March 19! :)

In peanut butter news, my mom had the tainted Peter Pan. So did Crystal C, Meg's mom, and Adriane! Crazy. Does everyone in AL have it??? Did anyone EAT any of it before the news was released?

Here's why that Anna Nicole Smith coroner guy on tv has the odd shaped head.

We watched Hollywoodland last weekend. We recommend. Just don't leave the room at all before pausing it.

Prediction

Mark my words:
Howard K. Stern will kill himself...if
a)the baby isn't his
b)he's overcome by grief over ANS
c)the police are about to arrest him in connection with Daniel OR ANS

Just my National Enquirer-esque prediction. I know it's creepy, but have you wondered what's next in this drama??

Hmmmm...

Love y'all!

Why It Can Rock to be a Teacher

Long story short:
Was at Wal-mart. Lines out the WAZZOO. I had just joined a long line that was CURLED around like a J.
Saw one of my former students, Porsha, at the empty register next to it. She motioned for me to come to her. "About to open." She mouthed.

Didn't have to tell me twice. I consider this my payback for that rude lady at Burlington a few weeks ago.

Haha!!!

Love the Porsha.

My son is weird.

Our son just took a pair of my underwear off the clean laundry pile and put the pair on his head.

He then walked into the den where Chris asked, "Son, do you know you got a panty on your head?"

Luke replied, "Spiderman!" Then he hit his Spiderman stance.

I guess they do look a little like Spiderman's mask. They are red and white...

I keep hearing her themesong from her old show.

What a wild week.

Remind me, if you see me in person or email me, to tell you about a teaching moment that they don't prepare you for in college. A true first for me but not something I feel comfortable discussing online...

I bet the diapered Astronut is glad that something else happened this week to take the pressure off her---but so sad about Anna Nicole. I wondered when it would happen but I still gasped when Chris sent me an email yesterday afternoon with the news.

What do you think the deal is with Howard K. Stern?

I know it's lowbrow, but I'm fascinated by this story. Chris and I were both shocked that Entertainment Tonight wasn't ready with updated crap on their golden girl. Just the day before, Chris was like, "They ought to call this Anna Nicole Tonight!"

I guess Birkhead will finally get that paternity test. Let's hope it's his. If not...he may feel bad.

Free stuff.

Anybody want an entertainment center? It's free. We are upgrading the man room's entertainment center/tv/speaker stuff and we need this picked up today. If you live in the area and you want it, tell me. We only had this two years, and it's in good shape.

Call me.

Geez...

I just saw this on a commercial while Luke is watching some cartoon show. I found it disturbing...these 8 and 9 year old girls singing Beyonce's "Irreplaceable"---"You must not know bout me, you must not know bout me..." and the lyrics of "Lips of an Angel"???? I mean come ON!!!!! Go look at the site. I mean, some of those songs should not be sung by children. Right? Am I way off here? You can even listen to some of these atrocities.

Chris, Luke, and I watched Air Bud this morning. I had never seen it before--it just came on and it grabbed little buddy's attention right away. I boo hooed when Airbud was left on the friggin' island and then I REALLY cried when here comes Air Bud, right into the basketball game, saving the day. This is why I don't watch animal movies.

Is it the pregnancy hormones or did others cry too? And yes, I know what happened to the real Air Bud. That made it even sadder.
